Yes, as of now, I’m at 522. I’m not sure when the “challenge” ends but Mary wins, no doubt with her superior blogging - both in number and quality of posts - and miles.
What happened to the male winners is anyone’s guess. It’s disappointing cuz I know many other bicyclists out there who would haveĀ blogged and ridden a ton with their new bicycles. Oh well.
I’m still at work and debating whether to call the boyfriend and have him pick me up or brave the rain. It’s really the thunder that worries me.
It was quite the adventure the last 2 days with the wind. I got attacked by fierce dry leaves making their way from the trees to the gutters.
I took another pic of my branchless beauty but my camera battery died so i can’t download it onto my computer. Alas my 3 faithful readers, you shall have to wait for your favorite tree shot.
I’m hoping for brighter days now that Mr. Obama in my new president. We can all use brighter days, I’m thinking. Especially with the end of daylight savings…

Great day to ride. Layering is key. I love my Patagonia vest I stole from the boyfriend. I’m thinking of slitting the back in a few places horizontally and putting some mesh in somehow. I need wind stopper front, open back to let my feminine glow escape. I heat up quick as i puff up and down suburban hill and dale.
Speaking of which, I see a ton of Obama yard signs in the burbs. It was only the small houses at first, the big ones (richer folks?) usually were going McCain but now the Obama burb signs seem to be building and the houses getting larger. I’ve been laid off twice under Republican administrations (I was a victim of Reaganomics & Shrubanomics) so I’m hoping for brighter days ahead.
I have yet to cycle home and it’s almost 8pm. Gotta catch 30 Rock!! Go Tina Fey!

I rode 20+ miles on Sunday. Sunny and windy, like Kansas is supposed to be. Altho come to think of it, I was mostly in Missouri.
I rode with my pal Mary. She is a wonderful blogger. Read her stuff here.
I was able to show her the topiary house just west of Loose Park. I thot sure she had seen it on her bicycling adventures but she had not.

Bear? Rabbit? Alien? Festive!
It was good to see it decked out for fall festivities.
After I left Mary at her house I rode over to the cemetery on Troost. I saw some beautiful trees.

I was so tired when I got home. I rode west on 63rd and boy is it hilly between State Line and Mission Road! I realized I hadn’t ridden more than 6 or 7 miles at a time in months and I’d done over 20 on coffee and a yogurt parfait from Muddy’s! It served me well but I was starving when I got home.
I’m hoping for warmer weather. I’m not quite ready for old man winter…

OK, I tuned up my bike last night, cable lube, cleaning, adjust derailleur, adjust spokes (OK, Marko did that part for me) so I was ready this morning. But, after taking pics for my photo class and for Marko to sell his beautiful carbon frame on eBay, I was late and it was raining. So, I drove again…I’m hoping for some ride time tomorrow as I work tilll 8pm tonite…sigh.

I got a ride home last nite and left my bike at work. So, I have a car and a bike at work today. Go figure. An overabundance of transportation alternatives. I’ll try to get it in the car so I can ride tomorrow.
It has been fun riding in the leaves. The weather is still pretty great. Saw a possum last Saturday nite. No photo, darn it.
My cargo bike is almost done. Can’t wait to ride it.
I’m at 442 miles so I got some catchin’ up to do to reach Mary’s total!!

Congress passes commuter act along with financial bail-out. Employers can get $20 per month for each employee who bikes to work!
Check it out here at Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.

I have Google Alerts set up for bike commuting, news, fashion etc. It finds me all kinds of stuff.
Here’s something from CNBC European business about how Paris is jumping on the bike rental bandwagon to alleviate pollution and traffic.
Such a fabulous day and I had to drive my car to work! Ah well…there’s always tomorrow.
